Alex is a doctoral candidate in the school psychology program at the University of Kentucky. He holds an Advanced B.A in psychology from the University of Manitoba (Canada), a M.S.Ed.in school psychology from the University of Kentucky and has also acquired the Graduate Certificate in Developmental Disabilities through the Interdisciplinary Human Development Institute (IHDI) at the University of Kentucky. He also served as a full-time special needs assistant before beginning his graduate work at UK. Currently, Alex is serving as a school psychological intern for Fayette County Schools, KY with a specific focus on children with developmental disabilities. His research with the COMPASS grant has examined behavioral interventions provided in outpatient settings for individuals with autism, and the measurement of teacher self-efficacy for educators of students with pervasive developmental disabilities. Alex is also presently completing an advanced practicum at Kentucky Children's Hospital with Neelkamal Soares, MD, a developmental behavioral pediatrician and specialist in pervasive developmental disabilities. As part of his work in all three settings (schools, pediatrics and laboratory), Alex has been developing a statewide resource database to advocate for children and families with exceptional needs.
